It’s been a good week.
The weather has greatly improved, which has brightened our spirits. We have been keeping very busy: we
went to a Twins/Orioles game at Camden Yards with Bri, Zac, Jess and little
Zeke, and drove down to DC to meet my aunt for dinner. I’ve been invited to join my local PEO
chapter - they are a great group of ladies and I feel very welcome. Matt and I are going to visit his friend
Laura in Philly this weekend for the day, which will be a fun adventure. And we have started putting together the crib
that my parents bought us for a shower gift.
I am definitely in nesting mode and excited for a project. Though I am noticing that my belly is starting
to get in the way; I also can’t get up and down as easily as I could before.
I am also SUPER excited to start birthing
classes next month. The nerdy
student in me is looking forward to learning and taking organized notes. I’m also pleased that Matt has found a way to
get an electronic version of one of our baby books, so he is now reading
through that during his commute and starting to talk to me about stuff he has
learned.
We are officially beginning the 3rd trimester
(wow!), and the pregnancy is now quite obvious.
The warm weather is both a blessing and a curse – on the one hand, I can
get away with wearing really comfy skirts and dresses and therefore don’t have
to blow a lot of money on maternity clothes (yet). However, having a baby belly and carrying
around the extra weight makes it seem much hotter than it is (which isn’t too
hard given that it’s 85), and makes you swell up like crazy. It’s crazy that
MD April feels like MN July. I can tell
this will be a long summer. Hopefully
Matt won’t mind being turned into a popsicle.
I have given up trying to get on a normal sleep schedule –
even on days where I get up early and get just a few hours of sleep, I can’t
seem to fall asleep at a normal time because even if I’m sleepy, I have a hard
time getting comfortable. And it’s not
because baby moves around a lot. It’s
that I’m either too warm, too thirsty/hungry, my legs are
restless, or I have a lot on my mind and
can’t mentally power down. But I
wouldn’t trade it for anything, because I am so blessed by this pregnancy, and
very prepared for the uncomfortable stages to come. It’s all worth it and all part of the miracle
of life.
